Have a safe and healthy summer from Keck Medicine of USC
Dear Valued Patient,
We want to share some important updates with you about your health and that of your loved ones.
New recommendations for second boosters
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending a second COVID-19 booster for adults 50 and older and those 12 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised.
For more information on who should receive a second booster, please refer to the CDC website and consult your doctor.
Additionally, the CDC has expanded eligibility of a COVID-19 vaccine booster to everyone five and older.
At Keck Medicine of USC, we offer COVID-19 vaccines for those 12 and older, including second booster shots for those who are eligible, at our USC Medical Plaza Pharmacy, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Appointments are not necessary, but if you would like to make an appointment, you can do so here.
The pharmacy is located at USC Medical Plaza Pharmacy, 1510 San Pablo St., #144, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
You can also schedule a COVID-19 vaccine through My Turn.

Antiviral pill may help reduce severe COVID-19 illness
Paxlovid is a prescription oral antiviral drug that has shown to be successful reducing severe COVID-19 illness. The CDC recommends Paxlovid for early-stage treatment of mild to moderate cases for those who are at high risk for developing severe COVID-19. Please consult your primary care physician to learn if this treatment might be right for you.
Staying safe and healthy this summer
The community COVID-19 risk in Los Angeles County recently moved from low to medium. In California, some counties have moved from medium to high risk.
We urge you to continue following all precautions to keep you and your family safe. While masking in some public spaces is currently optional, you may feel more comfortable wearing a mask, especially if you or someone you live with is at high risk of severe illness.
Please keep in mind that in in accordance with public health guidelines, masking is still required in all health care settings. Patients and visitors are still required to wear a mask at all Keck Medicine locations.
Mental health is also important to your overall well-being. In recent weeks, the nation has experienced several traumatic events. Please take care of yourself by reaching out to family, friends and your community for support. Your primary care doctor is also a good resource, and can provide guidance as needed.
Thank you for entrusting Keck Medicine with your care.
