In this role, Allen will continue to oversee Keck Medicine’s strategic financial plans, financial and governmental reporting, budgeting, funds flow, revenue cycle and material management. He will also lead the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the health system’s financial programs to ensure financial growth and stability, empowering the organization to deliver the highest level of patient care for years to come.

Allen has been instrumental in driving Keck Medicine's growth. Throughout his tenure, he has played a key role in Keck Medicine's finance team, starting as executive administrator for financial planning and decision support. He also played a pivotal role in navigating the health system through the financial difficulties at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.   

In his most recent role, he served as CFO for Keck Medical Center of USC, overseeing comprehensive financial planning for the medical center. Allen has been recognized by multiple professional organizations, including being named Rising Star CFO of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2022. 

Previously, Allen served as CFO for Adventist Health Glendale Medical Center, as well as interim CFO for the University of California Irvine Medical Center. 

Allen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and finance from the University of Georgia, as well as a certificate in direct costing and contribution reporting from the University of Wisconsin School of Business. 

Rothman, former CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine and retired dean of medical faculty for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, brings his leadership acumen as well as clinical and scientific expertise in rheumatology and molecular immunology to this advisory role.

Shapiro, MD, senior vice president for health affairs, University of Southern California. “His insight and experience leading one of the most preeminent academic health systems will be invaluable as we usher our innovative academic medical center into the future.”  

In addition to his leadership experience, Rothman also is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He is a member of the Association of American Physicians and served as president in 2014.

Rothman also previously served as dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and as head of medicine at the University of Iowa. Prior to this, he served as vice chairman for research and founding director of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he joined the faculty in 1990. 

Rothman earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his medical degree from Yale University. He completed both an internal medicine residency and a rheumatology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, as well as a postdoctoral biochemistry fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. 

In this position, Mmeje will further the health system’s mission to expand access to specialized health care and research to the San Gabriel Valley and beyond. He will oversee all management and operations of the hospital, including corporate compliance, strategic plan implementation and fundraising.

“Mmeje will utilize his wealth of knowledge and experience running complex, high-performing hospitals in his new role leading USC Arcadia Hospital,” said Rod Hanners, CEO of Keck Medicine.

Mmeje replaces current USC-AH president and CEO Dan Ausman, who is retiring after a long and successful career in health care, including 12 years with USC-AH.

“I am humbled and excited to join USC Arcadia Hospital,” said Mmeje. “The hospital has a rich 120-year history of caring for patients and the community, and I look forward to advancing its legacy and mission far into the future.”

Prior to joining Keck Medicine, Mmeje served as chief operating officer (COO) of both MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. Previously, he held CEO and COO roles with Tenet Healthcare.

Mmeje is active on a number of boards, committees and organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Association of Health Services Executives, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in public health and social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan.

USC-AH, founded in 1903, affiliated with Keck Medicine in July 2022. It is a full-service community hospital offering advanced cardiovascular services. Los Angeles County has designated the hospital as both a heart attack receiving center and a comprehensive stroke center, as well as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics. The hospital also offers a variety of surgical services in orthopaedics, neurosurgery, obstetrics, gynecology, and cancer care, plus physical rehabilitation and many other medical specialties. 

In this new role, Bradley will develop strategies and initiatives to recruit and retain an equitable and diverse workforce and ensure culturally sensitive care for patients. She will lead diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts already in progress at the health system and create and track metrics to measure these efforts.

We are very excited to welcome Bradley as an integral member of our Keck Medicine leadership team.”

Additionally, Bradley will work closely with Christopher Manning, USC’s chief inclusion and diversity officer, to collaborate on DEI strategies and initiatives and to prevent and address potential situations of bias.

“I look forward to leveraging Keck Medicine diversity, equity and inclusion efforts to provide the best outcomes for our patients and an inclusive workplace for all employees,” said Bradley. “Keck Medicine has the commitment and resources to become not only a regional, but a national leader in this area.” 

Bradley brings a unique personal dimension to the role. “At one time in my life, I myself did not have access to adequate health care,” she said. “I understand firsthand what it means to have an inequitable health care experience, which drives me to advocate even harder for patients who have been underserved or undervalued.”  

Hiring Bradley as chief diversity and inclusion officer is the culmination of recent DEI-focused initiatives at the health system.

“With Bradley onboard, we are confident that Keck Medicine can progress even further on its journey to inclusion,” said Smitha Ravipudi, MPH, chief executive officer of USC Care Medical Group and chair of Keck Medicine’s Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. "Together,  we will create a lasting road map for change.”

Previously, Bradley served as the assistant vice president/division director of diversity, equity and inclusion for HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division in Houston, Texas. During her tenure there, she increased the diversity of the health system’s board members for Asian and Black members by 45% and 24% respectively. 

She also launched multiple networks bringing together employees of common demographics, backgrounds and interests, and increased participation in the networks from just under 300 participants to over 3,000 in three years. In addition, she initiated a health equity collaboration that resulted in significant improvements in maternal health outcomes among women of color.

Bradley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, and a Master of Business Administration degree with a health care administration specialization from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She was named Outstanding Diversity Champion in 2021 and Outstanding Head of Diversity in 2022 by the Houston Business Journal. 

AS CEO, Dorian will lead all aspects of the hospital in advancing the hospital’s mission of providing personalized, high-quality health care to the local community.

“Armand has nearly 20 years of medical experience as an emergency board- certified physician and valued leader and administrator,” said Rod Hanners, CEO of Keck Medicine. “He is an indefatigable and inspirational leader, as he just proved by successfully leading the hospital through many challenges during the pandemic. With him at the helm, and with his commitment to patient care, staff wellness and community engagement, there is no limit to what USC-VHH can offer our patients, staff and community.”

Dorian is also the president of the USC-VHH’s governing board, the former chair and a current member of the hospital’s Caduceus Society, which is composed of philanthropic medical staff, a hospital foundation board member and a community advisory board member.

Additionally, he is a clinical professor of emergency medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He also serves the city of Glendale and the greater community by providing local groups and public officials with timely and accurate medical expertise.

USC-VHH is a 158-bed community hospital that has been serving the Foothill communities of Southern California for almost 50 years. It includes a 24-hour emergency room, a primary stroke center, and OB/GYN and infant services, among other services.

Dorian joined the USC-VHH executive team in July 2018 as the chief medical officer to help lead the physician medical staff. Previously, he served as the hospital’s director and vice-chair of the emergency department.

He received his medical degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii and completed his emergency medicine residency at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. He received a Master of Medical Management at the USC Marshall School of Business.

As CEO, Sargeant will provide executive leadership for both hospitals and will also continue maintaining the strong relationships that he’s cultivated with department chairs, faculty, staff and leadership.

Keck Hospital is a 401-bed acute care hospital. USC Norris Cancer Hospital is part of USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the eight original comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. It offers 60 beds and focuses on 13 areas of cancer treatment.

Sargeant has more than 20 years of health care leadership experience. Prior to his role as interim CEO, he served as chief operating officer for the two hospitals. Before joining Keck Medicine, Sargeant served as COO for City of Hope and held a number of positions over a 17-year tenure with Cleveland Clinic. Previous to his career in health care, Sargeant served for 10 years as an F-15 combat pilot in the United States Air Force.

He is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
