Get your booster shot now -- important COVID-19 vaccine information from Keck Medicine of USC

Dear Valued Patient,

The CDC now recommends that all adults 18 and older get a COVID-19 booster shot if they received the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine six or more months ago or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine two or more months ago.

I urge you to get your booster shot as soon as possible. Research has shown that the effectiveness of the vaccine fades over time; a booster dose helps protect against infection and severe outcomes.

Additionally, the recent discovery of the new omicron variant underscores the importance of booster shots.

With a new variant to be concerned about and the holidays coming, getting a booster dose is the best way to keep you and your loved ones safe.

You can receive the booster shot of your choice, regardless of your original vaccine type. If you have any questions about which vaccine is best for you, please talk to your health care provider.

Where to get a booster shot

Many local pharmacies offer booster doses. You can visit the My Turn website to find a location convenient for you.

Additionally, Keck Medicine of USC, in partnership with USC Pharmacies, is offering booster doses to individuals 18 years and older at the lower level of Norris Healthcare Center (HC3), located at 1516 San Pablo St., Los Angeles, CA 90033, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. No appointment is needed; walk-ins are accepted. You must either bring paper or electronic proof of vaccination.

Thank you for entrusting Keck Medicine with your care and for doing your part to stay healthy as we move into the holiday season.

Sincerely,
