Keck Hospital of USC receives Rising Star Recognition from Vizient
LOS ANGELES — Vizient, Inc., a leading health care performance improvement company, has awarded Keck Hospital of USC the Rising Star Award for its performance in Vizient’s annual Quality and Accountability Scorecard. The hospital ranked number 18 out of 101 comprehensive academic medical centers, and achieved a four-star rating.
The annual ranking assesses data from participating academic faculty practices to measure performance in five domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency and patient centeredness.
“Our commitment to safety and excellence has remained a priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and this recognition solidifies our place as an elite academic medical center,” said Stephanie Hall, MD, chief medical officer of Keck Hospital and USC Norris Cancer Hospital.
The recognition honors Keck Hospital for making both significant improvement in its year-over-year rankings and scoring in the top quartile in the Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking.
Academic medical centers identified as a Rising Star rose at least 20 positions from the prior year in the annual Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking and scored in the top 25; Keck Hospital rose 34 positions this year.
The ranking factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance in core measures data, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network for work spanning July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.
